Hit TV show comes to the Maldives
The beauty of the Maldives is set to be showcased in a highly-anticipated TV drama series.
“Traumhotel”, aka “Dream Hotel” is a hugely-popular German TV show. Each year the cast and crew tour the world’s most exotic destinations to shoot scenes for the show. This year, it was the turn of the Maldives.
The team have just wrapped up filming for the series, after completing scenes at Beach House Maldives – which has just been re-branded as part of the Waldorf Astoria Collection – and in Male’, the frenetic capital of the Maldives. Those watching the next series of Traumhotel will be able to see the sumptuous villas, stylish restaurants and stunning beaches of Beach House Maldives, while taking in all the twists and turns of the storylines of course.
The crew also shot scenes at the fish market in Male’, where one can browse the exotic fish including enormous yellowfin tuna, pipe fish, horse mackerel and even sail fish.
A Traumhotel spokesman told Maldives Traveller: “We film in a different location every year.
“The Maldives is a fantastic location to be working in. It’s just beautiful.”
Without giving away too much, viewers can expect to see on the show’s “Hotel Owner”, Markus Winter, visiting his hotel in the Maldives where daughter Leonie is working as an assistant, and bumping into an old flame. Meanwhile, there’s trouble in paradise for Stefan Garber who’s holidaying in the Maldives with daughter Babsi and his new wife Greta. Life isn’t simple either for jetsetter Alexander Weigand, who finds that losing his luggage has more repercussions than he could have ever imagined.
The series will air in 2011.
Other previous episodes over the years have been shot in the Caribbean, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
